Two Die In SUV That Caught Fire After Crash
An accident that occurred on Interstate 5 prior to 2:00 a.m. in the northbound lanes in the vicinity of the freeway exit Northeast 50th street turned deadly for the driver and passenger.
According to State Patrol investigators the SUV, a Chevrolet Blazer was believed to be speeding at the time of the crash when it drove off the roadway, struck two light poles and the Seventh Avenue Northeast overpass. The driver was able to exit the vehicle after the crash and was transported to Harborview Medical Center where he died a few hours later. His identity has not been released other than he was a 31 year old Seattle resident.
The passenger in the vehicle was not able to escape the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The State Police or the coroner’s office did not release the passenger’s identity.
State Police investigators are still investigating whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the SUV crash.
